Varanasi Tour
Overview
Boat ride on the Ganges:
A boat ride on the Ganges is a must-do activity in Varanasi, especially at sunrise or sunset, when the river and the city are bathed in golden light. Your client can witness the daily life of the locals, who come to the river for bathing, praying, and cremating their dead. Your client can also see the famous ghats, such as the Dashashwamedh Ghat, where the Ganga Aarti ceremony takes place every evening, and the Manikarnika Ghat, where the funeral pyres burn continuously.
Kashi Vishwanath Temple:
The Kashi Vishwanath Temple is the most sacred and revered temple in Varanasi, dedicated to Lord Shiva, the patron deity of the city. The temple is also known as the Golden Temple, because of its gold-plated domes. The temple is located in the heart of the old city, and attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists every day. Your client can visit the temple and experience the spiritual atmosphere, but be prepared for long queues and tight security.
Sarnath:
Sarnath is a historical and religious site, located about 10 kilometers from Varanasi. It is the place where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment, and thus, one of the four holy places of Buddhism. Your client can visit the Dhamek Stupa, which marks the spot of the sermon, the Chaukhandi Stupa, which commemorates the meeting of Buddha and his five disciples, the Sarnath Museum, which houses ancient sculptures and artifacts, and the Mulagandha Kuti Vihar Temple, which has beautiful frescoes and a Bodhi tree.
Shopping and cuisine:
Varanasi is also a great place to shop for souvenirs and handicrafts, such as silk sarees, carpets, brassware, woodwork, paintings, and more. Some of the best places to shop are the Thatheri Bazaar, the Chowk, the Vishwanath Gali, and the Godowlia Market. Your client can also taste the local cuisine of Varanasi, which is influenced by the Mughal and Awadhi styles. Some of the popular dishes are kachori, chaat, lassi, thandai, malaiyo, and of course, the famous Banarasi paan.
